Climate change-induced saltwater intrusion and drought are becoming increasingly complex issues across Southwestern provinces and cities. Freshwater shortages in this river delta region have become frequent during dry seasons in recent years. In Go Cong Dong district, residents face domestic water scarcity affecting their health and daily lives. While local authorities have implemented various solutions, significant challenges remain.
Understanding these difficulties, Ngoc Lan Cable’s staff and management team collaborated with local volunteer groups to visit and provide free freshwater to residents in the affected areas.
The company transported freshwater containers directly to distribution points in Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province, offering free access to clean water. During this critical period, access to freshwater for daily consumption is invaluable and has a meaningful impact on residents’ lives.
This year, the widespread El Nino phenomenon has created numerous challenges for Mekong Delta residents. While the free freshwater distribution initiative cannot completely resolve the shortage, it helps alleviate some hardships faced by those lacking access to domestic water. Through this effort, Ngoc Lan Cable demonstrates its spirit of mutual support and community engagement.
